Overview
The course is designed to address the present international and national environmental laws and policies. It covers the major international customary law principles and treaties covering legal concerns in environment and reviews the legal framework for environmental management in Uganda.
Students
will be able to identify the different policies and legislative instruments
that are applied in different sectors and disciplines that enable compliance to
appropriate environmental behavior. Students should also be able to understand
implications of the law in order to make independent analysis required for
review and advocacy of relevant policies. Thus the need to impart analytical
and advocacy skills to the learners in order to train and develop good policy makers
capable of reconciling the critical goals of environmental protection and development issues such as trade
liberalization.
